Due to the ongoing smog situation in Punjab, the Lahore High Court (LHC) has mandated the closure of all educational institutions, including schools and colleges, every Saturday.
The directive was issued during a hearing on the case concerning the escalating smog levels in the province. Justice Shahid Kareem of the Lahore High Court noted that the prevalence of smog has expanded beyond Lahore, now affecting the entire province of Punjab.
Government and private institutions have been instructed to implement a work-from-home policy twice a week.
“There must be a total closure of schools and colleges on Saturdays,” commented Justice Karim.
The hearing for this case has been adjourned until November 17. It is important to highlight that despite the recent rainfall, the air quality in Punjab has not shown significant improvement.
