ZTE’s nubia brand has introduced its latest gaming flagships, the Red Magic 9 Pro and Pro+, equipped with high-end specifications. With cutting-edge features and robust performance, these devices are poised to revolutionize the gaming phone landscape.
Design and Display
Boasting the state-of-the-art Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, both models exhibit a refined design that includes shoulder keys and RGB cooling fans, underscoring their commitment to top-tier gaming performance.. The Red Magic 9 Pro series distinguishes itself with its 6.8-inch flat AMOLED displays, courtesy of BOE, delivering a resolution of 1,116 x 2,480px and a seamless 120Hz refresh rate. These screens are thoughtfully designed to reduce eye strain, incorporating 2,160Hz PWM dimming and reaching a peak brightness of 1,600 nits.
An exceptional feature of these phones is the under-display 16MP front camera, ensuring an uninterrupted screen experience. Additionally, these devices introduce an innovative under-display fingerprint reader that serves a dual purpose as a heart rate monitor.
Internals and Processor
The Red Magic 9 Pro boasts 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM with storage options of 256GB or 512GB UFS 4.0. Taking it a step further, the Pro+ variant offers configurations of 16GB or 24GB RAM and storage capacity of up to 1TB. Both models feature the ICE 13 cooling system, covering a substantial area of 10,182mm2, designed to effectively reduce the phone’s temperature.

In the realm of photography, both phones are equipped with a 50MP main camera featuring Samsung’s GN5 sensor and OIS, accompanied by a 50MP ultrawide lens. Operating on Red Magic OS 9.0, based on Android 14, these devices promise a seamless user experience.
Battery
The Red Magic 9 Pro is equipped with a 6,500mAh battery that supports 80W wired charging. On the other hand, the Pro+ model features a 5,500mAh battery compatible with rapid 165W fast charging. Both models support Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.3, come with a headphone jack, and include an IR blaster.
Price, Colors and Availability
The Red Magic 9 Pro is available in black, white transparent, and black transparent colors, starting at CNY 4,399 ($620) for the 8/256GB version and going up to CNY 5,399 ($761) for the 12/512GB transparent model. Meanwhile, the Red Magic 9 Pro+ is priced at CNY 5,499 ($775) for the 16/256GB model, reaching CNY 6,999 ($987) for the top-tier 24GB RAM and 1TB storage variant. Sales in China are set to commence on November 28, with international pricing and availability yet to be announced.
